January 19, 2012

Weigh in: 291.4 lbsToday

Today I will focus on healthy eating habits:
* no/limited convenient food products
* not ording any appitizers or multiple entrees if dining out
* not eating out of stress/celebration/bordom/entertainment

My activity for the day will be playing soccer tonight. I will push my self to be as active on the pitch as I can be.

Today I will also research conventional "diet" options and viable "workout" plans.

New Beginnings

While most view the new year as a time of reflection and new beginnings, but for me it is January 19, 2012. My cue for this is a change in employer and career direction. After seven year and ten months (almost to the day), I am no longer an employee of The PrivateBank. While my new career officially starts on January 23rd, now is the time to reflect and decide who and what I want to be going forward. I have decided to shape my life, and more importantly my lifestyle, around things and ideals I like/love. In doing this I will put together a list of items/activities I like.

Things/activities I like (not in any particular order):
* Sailing
* Playing Soccer
* Bike Riding
* Smoking Cigars
* Rom-Com Movies (primarily those of British origins)
* Watching Television

Things I want to be better at (no particular order):
* Better/more loving spouse
* More organized
* In better shape and in less physical pain
* Healthier living

This blog going forward will be my on going journal and action plans to shape my lifestyle to better align with the activities I enjoy and the person I want to be.

To do this, my goal is to regularly journal on this basic concept; what am I doing today to reach my lifestyle goals?

The first order of business is establishing a healthier relationship with food and controlling my over-eating.

Casey Moe

It is time once again for my quarterly blog entry.

Quite a bit has changed since May, new job, new city, new house, new??? Since my last blog I was offered a lender and analyst position in my bank's new office in Kansas City, Missouri. Since then we (Beth & I) have flown to KCMO to go house shopping, found a house, and now we close on the house the 31st.

Welcome

I will be upfront and apologize from the get go for wasting your time in reading my random thoughts and observations.

All blogs must begin somewhere and mine will start here, on a warm Wednesday night in May. It was relatively warm today, but not so bad that I regret my 8-block walk to work, those days are to come in the next few weeks. I have recently come back from vacation and getting back into the swing of things is difficult this year. Since getting back from Germany I have not been sleeping well and I wake up every thirty minutes from 2 AM to 5:30 AM when I give-up and go watch TV. I am a commercial credit analyst for a bank located in Chicago. In a strong bit of irony, that what I despised most through all my schooling, writing research papers and most homework in general is the primary component of my chosen a profession for the next few years. But hopefully I will become a loan officer in the next couple of years, hobnobbing on the golf course, fancy business lunches, sizable year-end bonuses. Dreams/Goals…Dreams/Goals…Dreams/Goals.

I was looking forward this evening to playing soccer, but tonight was one of those nights I just could not seem to do anything right. It was very disappointing considering how well I played Monday. But tonight it was as if I had cement boots on. Oh well there is always my Sunday game and if I am up for it my Saturday game for a little bit of redemption.

Speaking of the hot days of summer, I will list my brief list of summertime goals. You see it is almost summertime, in understanding that the living is easy, fish seem to be jumping and I reckon the cotton is high. I want to ride my bike more, read more then three books, and relax at the beach more often then not.

Well I better be going to bed, I still need to shower after my soccer tonight and it sounds as if my wife’s phone conversation about workmates with a former workmate is winding down so I should go.

Until next time…
